Everything you need to get the most out of Hootbrook.

1Getting Started

How do I create an account?
Click "Free Assessment" on the home page to try Hootbrook without signing up. When you're ready, click "Sign Up" to create a parent account, then add your child's details during onboarding.
How does the free assessment work?
The free assessment is a 20-question diagnostic (around 20-30 minutes) that evaluates your child across five pillars of reasoning. No sign-up or credit card needed. You'll receive instant results showing strengths and areas for improvement.
What ages is Hootbrook for?
Hootbrook is designed for children aged 5–12 (Kindergarten to Year 6). Content adapts to your child's skill level and age-appropriate language.

2Learning & Practice

How does adaptive learning work?
Hootbrook tracks your child's mastery across 400+ concepts. The adaptive engine selects questions at exactly the right difficulty — challenging enough to grow, but not so hard they get frustrated. As your child improves, the questions get harder.
What is the Feynman Method?
Named after physicist Richard Feynman, this method asks children to explain concepts in their own words. If they can teach it, they truly understand it. Hootbrook's AI tutor guides this process with Socratic questions and personalised feedback.
How much time should my child spend?
We recommend 10–15 minutes daily, 5–6 days per week. Consistent short sessions are more effective than long cramming sessions. Our spaced repetition system is designed for this rhythm.
What subjects are covered?
Hootbrook covers the five core reasoning pillars: Mathematical Thinking, Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Abstract/Non-Verbal Reasoning, and Writing. Plus spelling (800+ words), times tables, phonics, and thinking skills.

3Account & Billing

What plans are available?
There's just one yearly plan and it includes everything — the full curriculum plus timed exam simulations, readiness scoring, and advanced analytics. It covers up to 4 children and includes a 7-day free trial.
Can I add multiple children?
Yes. One plan covers up to 4 children at a single flat price — no per-child charge. Each child gets their own personalised learning path and progress tracking.
How do I cancel?
Go to your Dashboard, click "Manage Subscription", and cancel through the Stripe Customer Portal. Or email support@hootbrook.com. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
What's the refund policy?
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans. See our full Refund Policy for details.

4Parent Dashboard

How do I track my child's progress?
Your parent dashboard shows daily activity, concept mastery, streak data, XP progress, and test readiness scores. You can also view detailed breakdowns by subject pillar.
What is the readiness score?
The readiness score estimates how prepared your child is for their target exam (OC, Selective, NAPLAN, etc.) based on diagnostic results and ongoing practice performance. It updates as your child practices.
